Production #7

I chose 'The Fairly Odd Parents' because in every episode the main character (Timmy) will always wish for something that he does not have or wish to change. For the comic that I created, I chose to focus on gender stereotypes. Timmy is asking his fairy odd parents to turn him into someone that is attractive to get the attention of Trixie. However, what Timmy pictures of an “ideal male” is not the same as how Wanda and Cosmo (the fairy odd parents) see it; resulting in them purposely changing Timmy’s body to images that are opposite of what Timmy wants. In page 5, Wanda questions Timmy’s ideas of girls not being capable of being strong. As Timmy sees being “strong” as a male characteristic. This comic’s intention is for readers to not assume certain characteristics as being male dominant (i.e. all males have to be strong, wealthy, youthful) and to realize that gender stereotypes are often still portrayed in the media.
